A neighbourhood is hosting a free carnival this weekend to mark its 10th anniversary.

The Eddington Carnival, held in a new-build community developed by the University of Cambridge, will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Work on Eddington, also known as the North West Cambridge Development, began in 2013. It was created to meet the university's accommodation demand for post-doctoral researchers and postgraduate students.

The event on Eddington Cricket Field is being billed as a "celebration of community and culture".

Biky Wan, Eddington's marketing manager, said it would "bring our wider community together through shared experiences".

He added: "The carnival celebrates the vibrant multicultural and community focus that makes Eddington a special place.

"As a growing neighbourhood, we are pleased to welcome residents and neighbours for a weekend filled with music, fitness, food and family fun to our summer event."

The carnival will feature games, crafts, fitness sessions, cultural stalls, fairground rides, children's entertainment and live music from local acts.
