A woman who died after she was hit by a van on a busy road connecting Leeds and Bradford has been named by police.

Danielle Smith, 31, from Farnley, was pronounced dead at the scene on Stanningley Bypass, near Pudsey Train Station, in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

Officers received calls reporting a pedestrian in the road shortly after 01:00 BST, before a further call was received a short time later reporting the crash.

West Yorkshire Police asked anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to contact the force.
