Heritage event focuses on island's cultural past

Jersey War Tunnels is one of the four venues taking part in the event

More locals and visitors can explore Jersey's cultural heritage as several of the island's tourist attractions are opening at reduced cost.

The government said four sites - Jersey Museum and Victorian House, Georgian House at 16 New Street, Royal Court and States Chamber, and Jersey War Tunnels - would be taking part in the 42nd European Heritage Days from Friday to Sunday.

It is part of a scheme organised by the French Ministry of Culture, and Jersey became involved through a partnership with the Normandy region and Département de la Manche.

This year's theme focuses on architectural heritage.

The event highlights the artistry and history in the island's buildings and landmarks, while sharing the stories behind some of Jersey's most iconic sites.

Jersey Museum and Victorian House will be open for free during the event while the other venues are offering discounted entry.
