A man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life following a house fire in West Sussex.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Creasys Drive, Broadfield near Crawley at about 15:35 BST on Saturday.

Nobody was injured, but a dog died in the fire, Sussex Police said.

Adrian West, 60, was arrested and has since been charged with six offences, including arson in connection with the house fire.

Mr West is also charged with:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm on 22 May

  • Intentional strangulation on 22 May

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm between 1 January and 14 September

  • Assault by beating between 1 January and 14 September

  • Criminal damage on 13 September

Mr West, of no fixed address, remains remanded in custody and is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court later.
