Specialists identified damage to La Coupée earlier this year

Specialists based in Jersey are set to survey a crack in Sark's Coupée.

La Coupée is a distinctive narrow strip of land, external connecting Little Sark with the main island.

The damage to the structure was identified earlier in the year by engineers from Guernsey - it's not known what has caused it.

La Coupée is the only way to access Little Sark from the main island and residents have said they are concerned about the impact of any damage to the structure.

Politicians on the Douzaine are in discussions about the next steps when it comes to repairing the bridge.

In a speech to Chief Pleas last week conseiller Kevin Delaney said the island needed to bring more money in for projects like stabilising the "world famous Coupée" and repairs which he said were "inevitable".

He's behind a consultation looking at the island's future tax system, which has been extended until 18 December and has recommended measures like a plate tax and a tax on seasonal workers as ways to raise more money.

Delaney added there were other big projects aside from the Coupée which required funding including "the incinerator replacement and a long-term solution to our sewage treatment plant".
