Two boys have been arrested after a student was injured following an assault at a college.

A man in his late teens suffered the "assault with injury" at Reading College in Kings Road at about 14:20 GMT on Thursday.

His injuries were not life threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital, a Thames Valley Police (TVP) spokesperson said.

A 17-year-old boy from Reading was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article on education premises, while a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They remain in police custody.

"We understand that this may have caused concern but we are investigating this as a priority and are working closely with our partners," the TVP spokesperson added.

"Officers remain in the area and are conducting increased patrols. If you have any worries or concerns, please speak with a uniformed officer."
