Art firm chosen to design York high street mural

An art company from York has been chosen to design a mural as part of the regeneration of one of the city's high streets.
Art of Protest will work with locals to draw up designs for the work on Front Street in Acomb, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
City of York Council said it received 11 proposals and attracted interest from around the world after asking for ideas for the project, which will also see eight benches refurbished.
Changes in the area include the removal of most of the 131 bollards along the street, which prompted a backlash when they were installed in early 2023.
The bollards will be replaced with planters and widened crossings, with the work set to end in February.
It follows the approval of proposals for the regeneration of Front Street in September.
The council expected the new mural and refurbished benches to cost about £35,000.
