A council was approached over the "the excess speed of vehicles" on the A4111, it said

An advisory speed limit is being brought in on an A-road through a Herefordshire village.

Herefordshire Council said it was contacted about "the excess speed of vehicles" on the A4111 through Eardisley by the parish council, in particular in front of the primary school.

The authority consulted with councillors, the school, emergency services and haulage groups and suggested an advisory 20mph (32km/h) limit on the 30mph (48km/h) road.

However, these are not enforceable and do not require a traffic regulation order to implement.

A report for the parish council a year ago said speeding through the village and nearby Winforton was "an ongoing issue".

It identified a 2022 speed survey that showed 60% of the traffic entering Eardisley from the north was over the speed limit.

"The gates at the entrance to the villages have helped to signal a change from the deregulated section to the 30 mph limit but more needs to be done," it said.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
