An 18-year-old HGV driver has been charged six months after the death of a man in a three-vehicle crash in Lanarkshire.

The female driver was involved in the incident with a Ford Transit flatbed and a Mini Cooper, on the A725 Shawhead flyover in Coatbridge, on 18 July 2024.

Viorel Ciucu, the 50-year-old driver of the Ford Transit, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the road for more than five hours while an investigation into the crash was carried out.

Police Scotland said no one else was injured. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
