A broken-down coach caused miles of congestion close to the Devon and Cornwall border.
National Highways said it happened at the Tamar Bridge at about 17:15 BST on the westbound A38 near Saltash and led to the closure of one lane of the dual carriageway.
It said at its peak, four miles (6.4km) of traffic was queuing near the bridge.
National Highways said on X, external shortly before 18:20 that all lanes had reopened.
