A football club has paid tribute to a 12-year-old boy killed in a hit-and-run in Coventry.

The family of Keaton Slater led both sides out as Leamington FC played a Coventry City academy side in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

A minute's silence was observed before kick-off for the Coventry City fan who died after he was struck by a BMW on Radford Road in June.

Leamington FC described the match as a "fitting way for the football family to come together to remember Keaton," and his parents were presented with a collection of about £300 at the end of the game.

Described as a beautiful and fun-loving boy, the 12-year-old's death led to an outpouring of grief from the community.

An online fundraiser for Keaton's family has raised almost £60,000 since it was launched.

A reward of up to £10,000 has been offered by a charity for information relating the prime suspect in the crash.

West Midlands Police said it was continuing to follow lines of inquiry in relation to Dolars Aleksanders, 21, who is suspected of causing death by dangerous driving.

Specially trained officers continue to support Keaton's family, the force added.
