Hull’s maritime heritage will be celebrated at an immersive procession in March.

A flaming torch-lit procession featuring 500 community volunteers will make its way from Hull Minster to Hull Marina.

Audiences will enjoy a performance of The Tower of Light, this includes a theatre of pyrotechnics, performance and music.

The Tower of Light event is part of Hull City Council’s £30m Hull Maritime project.

The scheme has also funded the refurbishing of Hull Maritime Museum, the Dock Office Chambers, a new attraction at North End shipyard, external and a new home for the restored Arctic Corsair and Spurn lightship.

Councillor Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure, said: “We are excited to be bringing this event for the people of Hull and beyond.

“We know events like this prove to be popular at this time of year and we are looking forward to welcoming people to the city centre and enjoying this spring performance, shining a light on Hull’s Maritime Project.”
