A man and woman have been arrested after police were called to an address in Goole following reports of a man with a machete.

Armed officers from Humberside Police attended Dunhill Road shortly before 10:00 BST on Monday.

After a search of the area, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray.

A weapon was recovered from a property and the man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

The force said a 21-year-old woman was also arrested.

Det Sgt James Kelly said: “Thankfully, nobody sustained any injuries as a result of the incident.

“The man and woman remain in our custody whilst we conduct lines of inquiry to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Members of the public can expect to see officers in the area as a part of those inquiries.”

Anyone with information which may help the investigation is being asked to contact police.
