Trampoline dream comes true for Emily, 15

A teenage trampolinist from Cumbria has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships.
Emily Trotter started her competitive career at the age of five with Carlisle Trampoline Club and last year became the British champion in her age group.
Now aged 15, she is a member of the Team GB squad heading to Portugal for next month’s Euros, where she will be watched by coach – and proud mum – Kim Trotter.
“Representing my country is a dream I’ve has since I was little,” Emily said.
“I used to come to the club with mum and look up to the older girls and now they’re the ones supporting me and telling me how well I’m doing.”
No trampoline talk
Emily has gone from strength to strength since achieved her first competitive recognition at the age of nine.
Last year, she became the 15-16 female age group champion.
She admits that having a coach who is also your mum could be tricky, but the secret of success is knowing where to draw the line.
“Mum’s always said to me that when I step foot in the club I’m a gymnast, but as soon as we leave we don’t talk about trampolining.”
Emily will be competing in both the individual and synchronised events when the European Championships, external get under way in Guimaraes on 3 April.
