A police officer who died in a crash while responding to an emergency will be remembered for his courage, his family have said.

PC Mathew Parker, 43, was riding a motorcycle on the A12 near Ingatestone on 19 November when the accident occurred.

His family and friends would "forever cherish his laughter, his honesty, and the strength of his character", a tribute read.

Essex Police said it believed no other vehicle was involved in the crash, which happened at 12:25 GMT, adding that he died at the scene.

He leaves behind a wife, daughters, parents, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews.

The tribute from his family said: "Mat lived a life defined by dedication and integrity.

"Beyond his service as a proud Essex Police officer, he was a man of strong values and a generous heart.

"He found joy and freedom on his motorcycle, and his passion for riding reflected his love of adventure and camaraderie."

PC Parker, a motorcycle officer with the Chigwell Roads Policing Unit, joined the force in 2010 and spent his entire career in west Essex.

He had a passion for motorbikes and was a member of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club.

There he "built lasting friendships and shared countless rides with those who shared his love for the open road and brotherhood", his family said.

"Mat will be remembered not only for his courage and commitment but for the warmth he brought to those closest to him.

"His family and friends will forever cherish his laughter, his honesty, and the strength of his character.

"His spirit will live on in the memories and love he gave so freely. He will remain forever in their hearts," they added.

"Mat was brave, he was courageous, and we are all grateful to him for his service.

"We stand united in grief with his heartbroken family, and continue to support them through this unimaginably difficult time."
