Stretch of busy A-road shut after serious crash

A stretch of a busy A-road has been shut by police responding to what they said was a serious collision.

Essex Police said the incident happened on the southbound A12 at Ingatestone near Chelmsford.

Its officers have shut the road in both directions between junction 15 at Margaretting and junction 12 for Ingatestone.

"We expect that to be in place for some time," the force said.
