A driver has died after he crashed into a parked lorry in a lay-by, police have said.

The crash happened on the A34 in Oxfordshire, just past the Bletchingdon junction, near Bicester, at about 05:00 BST on Saturday.

The 19-year-old driver of a blue Ford Fiesta died, while the lorry driver, a man in his 70s, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Part of the road was closed for more than eight hours after the crash, for police investigations to take place.

At one point seven miles (11km) of the road were closed northbound between the A44 at the Peartree Interchange, near Oxford, and the M40 at Junction 9.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said a file was being prepared for the coroner, and the man's next of kin had been informed and were being offered support.
