A Guernsey-based stock exchange has won an award from a national newspaper days after opening a new London office.

The International Stock Exchange (TISE) won the Banking and Finance category in the Financial Times' (FT) 2024 Reinvention Champions awards.

TISE, which runs several specialist marketplaces, including a new private markets exchange, opened a new office in the City of London earlier this month.

Cees Vermaas, CEO of TISE, said: "Being nominated by FT readers and journalists was hugely rewarding; but, to be selected by the judges alongside other major companies as a category winner, is a huge endorsement of our strategy."

The new awards celebrated companies that have "reinvented" themselves in some way, and replaced the FT's previous Tech Champions awards, TISE said.

Mr Vermaas said the award recognised the company's launch of TISE Private Markets, an exchange which serviced "the growing private markets".

TISE was founded in 2013 and runs marketplaces allowing people to trade in bonds and equities, as well as a sustainability marketplace launched in 2021, bosses said.

The company's new office on Poultry was near the Bank of England and would support its "business development activities across public and private markets", helping it "grow and diversify", they added.
