Buildings in Stoke-on-Trent have been evacuated following reports of a gas leak.

Emergency Services have put a cordon in place on Trinity Street and Foundry Street in Hanley.

The issue was reported at about 16:00 GMT, with two fire crews sent to the scene.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Hanley and Burslem had been called in.

Staffordshire Police officers and gas engineers from Cadent were also in attendance, the fire service said.

“Nearby homes and businesses have been evacuated as a precaution and a cordon has been set up whilst we continue to work at the scene,” a Cadent spokesperson added.
