Guernsey's Policy and Resources Committee (P&R) is to face a vote of no confidence.

P&R members were asked to resign by Deputy Charles Parkinson and six other deputies last week after the committee's plans for tax reform were rejected.

Mr Parkinson has submitted a motion of no confidence after committee members refused to resign.

The five members of P&R have previously said they intend to continue in their posts.

The committee's plans to introduce a goods and services tax and tax reform were thrown out by deputies in October.

Deputy Peter Ferbrache, President of P&R, had suggested the best way forward was to call an early general election.

The motion of no confidence would need a majority of votes from deputies to be approved.

It is unclear when a vote will take place, but the earliest possible date is 7 November.
