A woman has been sexually assaulted by a man in a park, police have said.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the incident took place in Alexandra Park in Oldham, at about 23:00 BST on Monday.

GMP said they were investigating the serious sexual assault and had stepped up patrols in the area.

Det Sgt Brereton said they believed it to be an isolated incident but warned people to avoid the park area at night.
