Five more arrests have been made after a "machete confrontation" in Nottingham city centre.

It was reported four youths on two e-bikes confronted another group of young people, who were on foot, with two of the e-bike riders in possession of machetes at about 18:15 GMT on Sunday outside the Council House.

On Wednesday a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, possession of a knife blade and possession of an offensive weapon, and on Thursday a 23-year-old man was held on suspicion of violent disorder. Both have since been bailed.

Police added an 18-year-old man, 17-year-old boy, two 15-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl had now been held on suspicion of violent disorder.

Nottinghamshire Police, which released this picture on Friday, said more suspects had been taken into custody

The 17-year-old boy, one of the 15-year-old boys and the girl were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon.

A number of properties have been searched as part of the investigation, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Assistant Chief Constable Suk Verma said: "Overnight, our officers have arrested five further individuals, bringing the total arrests up to seven.

"I hope this proactive approach provides reassurance to the public, that we will not tolerate such behaviour, and the streets belong to the law-abiding communities, who make Nottingham such a wonderful and vibrant city.

"Some of these arrests were as a result of the public supporting our appeal which I very much welcome, whilst others were from our neighbourhood officers proactively gathering evidence through routine patrols. This is a core element of the neighbourhood policing strategy."
