A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Herefordshire.

The alleged attack was reported to have happened between Three Crosses Road and Springfield Road in Ross-on-Wye at about 03:00 BST on Sunday.

West Mercia Police said the man, 23, was arrested on Monday and remained in custody while their inquiries continued.

The force said the woman was being supported by specialist officers and there were extra police in the area.

Police urged anyone who might have information to come forward and asked people to check any doorbell footage they might have from around the time the incident happened.
