A family has paid tribute to a man who died following an alleged serious assault outside a row of shops.
Police were called at 20:05 BST on Saturday with reports a man in his 50s had been badly hurt in an assault at the St Olaves shops in Bury St Edmunds.
Scott Lisney, 56, from the town, died in hospital on Tuesday and his family said he was a "kind-hearted man".
A 54-year-old man, Andrew Allen, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm on Monday and is due in court next month.
"We are saddened by the sudden loss of our Scott, who was a much-loved son, brother, father and uncle," his family said.
"He was a kind-hearted man who would do anything for anybody and was a much-loved character in the community who was full of fun and a smart and snappy dresser, well known for wearing his suits.
"We are all feeling a strong sense of loss from the hole that has been left but we would like to thank everybody for their kind words."
Mr Allen is in custody and due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 26 August.
Suffolk Police started a homicide investigation after Mr Lisney's death and said it would be "working with the Crown Prosecution Service to progress the investigation accordingly".
"Officers continue to support the family of the deceased at this difficult time," a spokesperson added.
