A man who was intoxicated and choked a work colleague unconscious at a Christmas party has been ordered to pay more than £13,000 to cover his teeth repairs.
Robert Wagstaff, 34, of Heather Meadow, Fraddon, appeared at Truro Crown Court on Wednesday.
The court heard Wagstaff had put the person in a chokehold during a drunken prank at a work party in Wadebridge in December 2021.
He denied causing the victim actual bodily harm but was convicted by the jury and sentenced to a community order to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
Judge James Adkin said the jury rejected claims the victim had slipped and Wagstaff had tried to catch him due to a video showing him restricting his breathing for 16 seconds before he fell unconscious and smashed his teeth.
Alongside the community order, the judge also ordered him to pay £4,380 costs and £9,442 compensation for dental bills.
