A large fire which broke out on the London-Surrey border has been bought under control, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has said.

The service was called to Bridge Road in East Molesey, just after 06:00 BST on Saturday and 12 fire engines, as well as an an aerial ladder platform, were dispatched to the scene.

A SFRS spokesperson said that the fire had broken out in a restaurant and flats - and everyone has been "accounted for".

Fire crews from London Fire Brigade were also sent to help, as well as local police and ambulance services.

Anyone who lives in the area is being asked to keep their doors and windows shut.

Emergency services added people should avoid the area as Bridge Road and the surrounding streets remain closed.

A police spokesperson said they will likely not reopen on Saturday.
