Man charged with causing death of child hit by car

Police investigating a hit and run in County Down, in which a child was killed, have charged a 51-year-old man.
A young boy, who was riding a scooter, was hit by a vehicle in the Strand area of Portaferry on Tuesday.
He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
The man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and other driving-related offences.
He is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates' Court on Friday.
