Delays on M56 after crash near Manchester Airport

Motorists face delays after an early morning crash near Manchester Airport closed two lanes of the M56 motorway.

National Highways said lanes three and four from junction 7 to 6 near Bowdon, were shut eastbound causing long queues.

The closures were close to the airport exit.

The agency said the lanes were re-opened just before 08:00 GMT but delays remained.

The crash is understood to have happened at about 07:00 with all traffic traffic held while emergency services attended.
