Police arrest four more men over hare coursing

Police have arrested four more people following incidents of hare coursing and violent disorder in the Cambridgeshire Fens, bringing the total to 15.

Police said lives were put at risk after people in 4x4s caused damage totalling thousands of pounds in and around Manea on 25 January.

A 35-year-old man from Reading was arrested in Peterborough on Tuesday, while three men, aged 20, 26, and 49, all from Spalding, Lincolnshire, were arrested in Peterborough on Thursday.

Incidents were also reported in Fordham, Ely, Prickwillow, Littleport, Welney, Chatteris, Wimblington and Doddington.

The other 11 people arrested were:

  • A 40-year-old man from Hungerford in Berkshire

  • An 18-year-old man from Spalding, Lincolnshire

  • A 26-year-old man from Grantham, Lincolnshire

  • Two men, aged 22 and 51, from Chelmsford, Essex

  • A 46-year-old man from Solihull, West Midlands

  • A 30-year-old man from Basildon, Essex

  • A 44-year-old man from Horton, Berkshire

  • Two men, aged 19 and 44, from Datchet, Berkshire

  • A 28-year-old man from Winkfield, Berkshire

All have all been released on bail to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station at a later date, with strict conditions.
