Ryan and Miley spent up to £1,600 after three weeks combing through shops

A couple set out to furnish their entire home with items from a local hospice's shops after they moved to Ross-on-Wye.

Miley and Ryan spent between £1,500 and £1,600 after three weeks poring over goods that St Michael's Hospice was offering.

They said their purchases included a dining table and chairs, a TV unit, a sofa, a footstool and ornaments.

"We would much rather put money into supporting a local charity than buying new at three times the price," the couple said. "Now, pretty much everything in our home is from St Michael's Hospice."

They said they got to know Neil Parkinson, assistant manager at the shop at Hereford's Whitestone business park shop, who helped them find furniture pieces and to arrange home delivery.

Miley and Ryan also visited the Ross-on-Wye branch at the Alton Road industrial estate.
