A man aged in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was struck and killed.
Lancashire Police said they were still trying to identify the victim, also in his 70s, who was struck by a vehicle on a pedestrian crossing on Mowbray Drive, Blackpool, at about 19:55 GMT on Monday.
The arrested man, from Blackpool, was also being questioned on suspicion of failing to stop after an accident.
He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Det Supt Joseph Ghigi said his thoughts were with the victim's loved ones.
"Sadly, the deceased has not been formally identified and we are continuing to make enquiries to identify his family members," he said.
Police previously launched an appeal to find the driver of the vehicle involved and a 43-year-old man previously arrested was released without charge.
