A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in Leicester.

Officers were called to the A6 London Road, at the junction with Clarendon Court, following a report of a crash involving a silver Toyota Corolla and a black Lexmoto 125 motorcycle at 23:30 BST on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, said police.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Police added four other people in the car did not suffer serious injuries.

A road closure was put in place overnight but has since been lifted.

Det Con Maddie Hayes, from Leicestershire Police, is urging anyone with information or CCTV footage of the crash to come forward.
