The change means residents can now speak to officers face-to-face

A neighbourhood police station facility where people can speak to officers face-to-face has reopened to the public a decade after it closed.

Willenhall Police Station's public contact office in Coventry closed in May 2015, but reopened on Wednesday, West Midlands Police confirmed.

The site, on Chace Avenue, officially became Coventry Police's headquarters following a refurbishment in September 2024.

The facility, which also had a refurbished custody suite and new cells installed this year, will be be open daily between 09:00 and 17:00 BST.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said public contact offices were a "key component" of the force's police stations.

"While it is people and not bricks which keep neighbourhoods safe, I recognise their iconic status within communities - they make people feel reassured," he said.

"It is a fact that most people prefer to call us or go online these days," he explained.

"There are some transactions which remain face-to-face and some are often sensitive depending on need."

The reopening of Willenhall brings the total of public contact offices across the West Midlands to 11.
