Man found dead at popular beach

A 63-year-old man has been found dead at a popular south Wales beach.

Police were called to the scene at Rhossili beach on the Gower Peninsula in Swansea at about 19:15 BST on Wednesday, following a report of a body having been discovered.

Formal identification of the man from Bristol is yet to take place but his next of kin have been informed, South Wales Police said.

The force added there were no suspicious circumstances.

HM Coastguard confirmed it responded to an incident in the Rhossili beach area after it was alerted at about 19:30 BST.

Rhossili Coastguard Rescue Team, a coastguard search and rescue helicopter and a lifeboat from Burry Port RNLI were sent to the scene.
