Grantham markets will feature balloon modelling and craft and circus workshops

Street entertainment and drop-in workshops are to be introduced to Grantham's outdoor markets.

Balloon modelling, vegetable animal making sessions and craft and circus workshops will take place during the town's regular craft and farmers' markets.

The new activities are part of South Kesteven District Council's plan to improve outdoor markets in Grantham, Stamford and Bourne.

Grantham's craft fairs are hosted on the first Saturday of the month and the farmers' market takes place on the second Saturday of the month.

Councillor Paul Stokes said: "As a council, we pledged to step up on how our markets are presented, operated and promoted and these family-friendly activities are only the beginning.

"The diary of events are clear evidence of our intent for continuous improvement in putting the market, and the town, on the radar."

The markets take place from 10:00 until 14:00 GMT around the Market Place and Westgate.

A full schedule of events and activities can be found on the council's website.
