A cinema chain is giving free tickets away for screening of a new family film in return for support for local food banks.

Parkway Cinemas, which has screens in Beverley, Louth and Cleethorpes has launched its annual "Cans film festival" as a tribute to the glitzy event in the south of France.

People wanting to attend will be able to get a ticket by donating two tins of food which will then be sent to local foodbanks.

The tickets will be valid for screening of Butterfly Tale on 25 May.

Parkway Cinemas ran a similar event in recent years which allowed ticket holders to see the Disney blockbuster Encanto and The Tom and Jerry Movie.

Shannon Cooke from the chain said: "We might not be able to bring the same glitz and glamour as the actual Cannes festival but this is for a brilliant cause and we hope people get behind it".
