An NHS trust has announced the appointment of a new chief executive.

Dr Simon Constable was confirmed in the leading role at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) on Tuesday.

The consultant physician and clinical pharmacologist said he was thrilled to be joining the trust, which runs the Royal Stoke and Stafford County hospitals.

“I am committed to enabling continuous improvement and innovation so that we can provide the best healthcare possible now and for generations to come,” he said.

David Wakefield, chairman of UHNM, said Dr Constable’s experience would be invaluable to the trust as it works to address the evolving needs of the local population.
