Family fun day cancelled due to flooded fields

A family fun day has been cancelled for safety reasons after flooding on the fields used for parking.
Reaseheath College in Nantwich, Cheshire, announced the cancellation of the event, scheduled for 12 May, with “great sadness”.
Organisers said it followed unprecedented rain over the winter and early spring, meaning the fields had become waterlogged.
A statement from the college said the fields were in a condition that they felt was unsafe for a high number of vehicles.
“Using the fields for the event in their current state would also have a highly negative impact on the management of our farm in future months and the feed for our farm’s livestock,” the college said.
“Cancelling this event has not been an easy decision, but after carefully assessing all other parking options, we have no choice but to cancel. We apologise for any inconvenience this news may cause.”
People who have bought a ticket will be issued refunds over the coming days.
Despite the cancellation, the college said it expected to be hosting other events over the summer.
