A Staffordshire first responder has completed a charity sky dive after being inspired to do so by JLS singer Marvin Humes.

Jake McCandless, said he decided to raise money for Keele Community First Responders on a whim after watching the singer and presenter take part in a challenge on I’m A Celebrity.

He said he was absolutely petrified of heights and recalled crying on the London Eye during a family trip when he was a child.

Mr McCandless completed the sky dive on his 20th birthday, and has raised more than £1,000 for the charity.

Mr McCandless said despite his fears he would love to repeat the challenge

"It was the experience of my life," he said. "Every time I think about it now, my stomach still churns a little bit. It was just insane."

He said his nerves kicked in when he arrived at the site, in Peterborough, where his plane was taking off from, but that he would do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.

Keele Community First Responders, who he volunteers for, responds to life-threatening calls locally and is entirely funded through donations.
