Police are appealing for information after four ducks died in a suspected catapult attack.
Surrey Police said a "distressing" report was made after the attack in the Chobham area, on Saturday, 23 August, close to the area of North Hill Nurseries and the playground on Rose Meadow.
The force said it was an offence under the Wildlife & Countryside Act to kill or injure any wild birds without a specific license.
"Any circumstances where they can be lawfully killed is strictly regulated and is not considered an open season sport for everyone," it added.
Anyone with any information is being urged to contact Surrey Police.
People who witness any events of a similar nature are being encouraged to contact emergency services as soon as they can - and to use apps to help pinpoint the exact location.
A police spokesperson thanked the local community for expressing their "dismay" and drawing the police's attention to the attacks.
They added: "We rely on information from the public to help us investigate offences such as these and share the information we have with our neighbourhood teams, who will factor in patrols of local waterways."
