A disability charity is calling for businesses and organisations to make their workplaces and facilities more inclusive, highlighting the types of practical support needed with a series of videos featuring its members.

The 'Hear it from Us' campaign launched by UnLtd aims to give a platform to people living with physical disabilities.

The charity said the need for inclusion and accessibility had "never been more meaningful", with "13,000 people living in Guernsey with significant physical or sensory impairments".

Dr Rob Harnish, managing director at UnLtd said: "Too often, conversations about inclusion happen around people with disabilities, not with them, and so true progress isn't made."

The short videos "let their members share their first-hand lived experiences and highlight what practical support is needed to thrive in the local environment", the charity said.

Dr Harnish said the campaign "gives them the space to explain in their own words what real support looks like to them".

He added: "From this opportunity, the featured members have grown exponentially in confidence and empowerment from being able to share their heartfelt experience."

In December UnLtd is running two special late-night shopping runs designed specifically for disabled people to do Christmas shopping for carers, families and friends.
