Firefighters say smoke alarms saved the lives of two residents when a blaze broke out in their home.

Four fire engines from three stations and an aerial ladder platform were sent after the fire broke out on the first floor of the house on Allenby Road, Poole on Saturday at about 22:10 BST.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "Thankfully, the house was fitted with working smoke alarms which alerted the occupants of the property, and these undoubtedly saved their lives."

The fire service said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
