A pet owner and animal welfare charity founder said she would like to see firework displays "restricted to one night" and "public displays only".
Stephanie Stefani, the founder of Guernsey's Paws Protection Project, said she took the week off work around Bonfire Night so she could look after her animals.
There are more than 50 registered fire work displays over the next two weeks.
"I'd do anything for my animals, that's no problem. But it is exhausting just trying to make sure that they're okay at all times" she said.
She added: "We're not looking to ruin anyone's fun... [but] it seems to go on for a week, two weeks, which I feel is a bit too much".
Ms Stefani said she would like to see current explosives law "updated" and made more accessible.
The Explosives (Guernsey) Law, 1905, as amended by the Explosives (Guernsey) Amendment Law, 1951 is partially written in French.
Deputy Adrian Gabriel, President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, said leaders recognised "the importance of ensuring the welfare of animals in our island and we are currently prioritising the progression of the animal welfare legislation agreed by the States towards the end of the last political term".
Speaking about legislation surrounding fireworks, Gabriel said "further legislative changes are not among the States' highest priorities" but "the committee remains committed to its officers providing continued guidance and support to pet owners."
Horse and dog owner Sîan Staples said: "Fireworks cast a shadow of fear over our animals and wildlife.
"The safety and wellbeing of animals and wildlife is disregarded for the entertainment of few."
Ms Staples said she received no notice before fireworks were set off close to her home where she kept her horses.
"Communication from organisers is not too much to ask. Be respectful to the community in the name of animal welfare," she said.
