A fresh bid to sell a council-owned car park is to be made after it was pulled from another auction earlier this year.

The car park on Colne Road in Oakworth is one of the assets Bradford Council is selling off as the authority looks to balance its books.

The car park, which has space for six vehicles, was initially due to be auctioned off in June, when it had a guide price of £48,000.

However, the property was withdrawn from sale before the auction and is now listed for sale on 28 October with a reduced guide price of £35,000.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a condition of sale is that the buyer must keep the site as a car park for at least five years.

At the previous auction, there was a condition that it needed to remain a car park for at least 10 years.

Bradford Council is one of 30 local authorities across England to have been given "exceptional" financial support by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

The city has been on the financial brink for the past two years and narrowly staved off bankruptcy in March 2024, following an emergency package from government.
