Sussex Police has published a CCTV image of a "crucial witness they wish to speak with" as part of a Worthing rape investigation.

The attack took place in an alley behind the Guildbourne Shopping Centre car park and Chatsworth Road at about 03:00 BST on October 25, according to the force.

Officers described the man they want to talk to as having short, dark hair and said he was wearing a light blue puffer jacket, light jeans, a white top, a necklace and white trainers.

Detectives said the man might have "crucial information to support the investigation".

Police said specialist officers were supporting a 45-year-old female victim after the incident.

Officers previously arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the rape, who has since been bailed.

Sussex Police asked any other witnesses or people with information about the incident to also come forward.
