Firefighters are tackling a blaze on a city centre industrial estate.

Black smoke was seen rising from Liners Industrial Estate in Southampton shortly before 16:00 BST.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said 10 fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms dealt with the blaze in a number of commercial units, with a "relief strategy" seeing it scaled down by 20:00.

There were three units in a row of five that were impacted by the fire, and police warned people to stay away from the area because of "potential asbestos" in the smoke.

A police car is parked across Paynes Road, blocking traffic.

The fire service warned local residents to close windows and doors.

A number of local roads including Paynes Road and Park Road were also cordoned off by the police.
