About 60,000 people are expected to turn out for the return of the Manchester Caribbean Carnival this weekend.
The celebration of Caribbean culture, food and music began in 1972 as an impromptu parade and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Today the event is a fixture of the city's annual calendar as people gather to enjoy a feast of tasty delights, bouncing tunes and colourful costume.
Here are a few pointers for how to make the most it:
Where and when?
The carnival is taking place at Alexandra Park, Moss Side, and kicks off in earnest on Saturday at 12:00 BST, with festivities continuing until 20:00.
The fun starts again at 12:00 on Sunday, and again runs until 20:00.
What can I expect?
Organisers have urged visitors to stand by for for "colours, rhythms and non-stop vibes" at the family-friendly free two-day celebration.
Teejay is headlining on Saturday on the main stage with other acts including Rampage, Macyy Jadee and Mya Lashantai while DJ Larni, Classique Int and Tease Gad are among the line-up for Sunday.
There is also a youth stage featuring performances from emerging DJs and artists from the Carnival X development programme between 12:00 and 19:00.
