Child rape suspect to face extradition hearing

A man who allegedly raped a girl in France has been arrested in Liverpool city centre.

Sujanth Ketheeswararasa, 30, was detained by extradition officers from the National Crime Agency on Wednesday.

The Sri Lankan national was wanted by French authorities and appeared at a court in London on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody while extradition proceedings begin and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court by video link on Thursday.

A full extradition hearing is listed for 26 March.
