Long delays on A-road after multi-vehicle crash

Motorists faced hour-long delays on a major road following a crash "involving a number of vehicles", police said.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A12's southbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 19 near Chelmsford, Essex.

The incident, which happened shortly before 08:00 BST, forced Essex Police to close the road for more than two hours, before it reopened at 10:45.

A police spokesperson said: "Thankfully there are no reports of serious injury. Thanks to all drivers for their patience whilst work was carried out to clear the road."
