Boy, 12, seriously injured after being hit by car

A 12-year-old boy has been left seriously injured after being hit by a car in Arbroath.

Emergency services were called to Lochlands Street around 13:35 on Wednesday after the child was struck by a blue Volkswagen Polo.

The schoolboy was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Investigations are ongoing, and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Sgt Mike Guild said: "Inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward."

He asked anyone with information to contact Police Scotland, external.
